Step 1: Unplug the Oven and Let it Cool
Before you begin cleaning, you should always unplug the oven and let it cool off for at least an hour. This will help you avoid burning yourself on hot surfaces as you work.
Step 2: Gather the Necessary Supplies
You’ll need some soft cloths, a mild detergent, a non-abrasive sponge, and a putty knife or razor blade. You may also need a vacuum and some cotton swabs.
Step 3: Vacuum the Oven Door
Use a vacuum with a crevice attachment to clean any debris or dust from the oven door. Be sure to get in between the glass panels as much as possible.
Step 4: Apply Detergent
Mix a mild detergent and warm water in a bowl. Dip a soft cloth in the solution and apply it to the glass. Rub gently to remove any baked-on grease or food particles.
Step 5: Scrape the Glass
Using a putty knife or razor blade, carefully scrape away any remaining particles. Be sure to use gentle strokes and be careful not to scratch the glass.
Step 6: Clean the Tracks
Use a non-abrasive sponge to clean the tracks on the oven door. Dip the sponge in the detergent solution and scrub away any dirt or debris. Then use a cotton swab to get into any hard-to-reach areas.
Step 7: Wipe Everything Down
Use a damp cloth to wipe down the glass and the surrounding areas. This will help remove any remaining detergent residue.
Step 8: Let it Dry
Leave the oven door open to allow everything to dry thoroughly before plugging it back in.
